LAUSITZ, GERMANY, June 6, 2010 – Top racing driver Ralf Schumacher, whose AMG Mercedes C-Class car carries the Laureus Sport for Good Foundation logo, finished ninth in the EuroSpeedway Lausitz leg of the DTM touring car championship.
The striking Laureus logo has made its first appearance on Ralf Schumacher’s AMG Mercedes C-Class in the DTM touring car championship at Hockenheim, Germany.
In the previous race in Valencia, Schumacher had mixed fortunes. He created the fastest lap time of the entire four days of testing. However in the race itself there was disappointment due to a misfire on lap 24 caused by an electronic control failure and Schumacher had to retire early from the race.
Ralf, whose car will carry the Laureus logo for the rest of the season, said: “I am pleased that I am a part of this and that I can support this initiative. It is very important that we help kids through projects and take care of their problems.
German tennis legend and Laureus Vice-Chairman Boris Becker said: ” I am a big fan of motor sport, especially of the Mercedes team. It is great that Laureus, Ralf Schumacher and AMG Mercedes are working together now. I hope that this initiative will help to raise the awareness of Laureus in public and that more people become involved in the work of the Laureus Sport for Good Foundation.
During the year there will be seven more DTM races – in Germany, China, the Netherlands and the United Kingdom. The next DTM race will take place at the Norisring in Germany upcoming Sunday, July 4th.
