On Sunday, Michael Vaughan took part in the Discovery 702 Walk the Talk marathon in Johannesburg to help raise funds for the Laureus Sport for Good Foundation Trust South Africa. He was joined by fellow South African Laureus Friends and Ambassadors Deshun Deysel, Baby Jake Matlala, Lucas Radebe, John Robbie and Cynthia Tshaka who will all be walking.

The Discovery 702 Walk the Talk has something for everyone, with 30km and 15km events for serious walkers, while those looking for a shorter walk with their families, work colleagues or even with their dogs, can enjoy the 5km and 8km walks. “We’re thrilled to be able to contribute to the wellbeing of Joburgers, by promoting the health benefits of walking. Added to that, we are also promoting the important work of the Laureus Sport for Good Foundation through the proceeds of the race” said Discovery’s Chief Marketing Officer, Hylton Kallner. The Laureus Sport for Good Foundation was the official charity of this year’s event and will receive a R10 donation for every 5km and 8km completed by competitors.

Before the Discovery 702 Walk the Talk, Michael and fellow SA Friends and Ambassadors attended the official launch of the newly supported Laureus project, Johannesburg Cubs, in Fourways.
The Johannesburg Cubs Project and Gauteng Cricket Board Development Programme is a joint venture to establish a multi-racial and cross-cultural cricket-training programme for school children in and around Johannesburg.
The vision and mission of the programme is to ensure a supportive environment free from any form of discrimination; to inculcate and encourage self-discipline among participants; and to motivate and commit them to excellence and integrity.
